This Condition Grading Policy explains how THE BRAND ORIGINAL evaluates and describes the condition of items offered for sale.

The condition grade assigned to an item reflects our professional opinion based upon inspection performed at the time of listing.

1. PURPOSE OF CONDITION GRADING

Condition grading is intended to:

5. LIKE NEW

Items graded as Like New generally:

  • retain excellent presentation.

Any imperfections are typically insignificant and difficult to detect.

6. EXCELLENT

Items graded as Excellent generally:

  • show minor signs of use;

  • have been well maintained;

  • retain strong overall appearance;

  • show only light wear consistent with careful ownership.

Examples may include:

  • light corner wear;

  • minor hardware marks;

  • minimal surface signs of use.

7. VERY GOOD

Items graded as Very Good generally:

  • show moderate signs of use;

  • remain fully functional;

  • present well overall;

  • exhibit normal wear consistent with ownership and age.

Examples may include:

  • visible corner wear;

  • moderate hardware scratches;

  • light interior wear;

  • minor surface imperfections.

8. GOOD

Items graded as Good generally:

  • show noticeable signs of use;

  • remain functional and serviceable;

  • may exhibit cosmetic wear;

  • may require reasonable expectations regarding appearance.

Examples may include:

  • visible scratches;

  • edge wear;

  • interior staining;

  • fading;

  • discoloration;

  • moderate restoration work.

9. FAIR

Items graded as Fair generally:

  • show substantial signs of use;

  • may contain repairs;

  • may have undergone restoration;

  • may display significant cosmetic wear.

Examples may include:

  • extensive wear;

  • visible repairs;

  • significant scratches;

  • color loss;

  • structural wear.

Such items are offered with full disclosure of observable condition.

10. VINTAGE ITEMS

Vintage items may naturally display:

  • aging;

  • patina;

  • material changes;

  • manufacturing variations;

  • wear consistent with age.

Age-related characteristics are often considered part of the item's authenticity and character.

11. RESTORATION AND REPAIR

Some items may have undergone:
